Showing off just a little

Somebunny is going to be a little miffed at me, but he's not getting the spotlight this time. I have been waiting to show this off, and I finally have a chance.

Some of you may remember the "Milo's Bunny" crochet square I designed last year to honor my grandfather (and if you don't, you can find it here). When I found out that Lisa, bunny-mom to Buttons and Bella of Little fluffy adventures, was expecting her first child, I knew that a "Milo's Bunny" blanket would be a perfect gift.

I'm still trying to work out the kinks in the two-color version (it's been a huge battle between the seriously-fussy side of me and the lazy-wench side of me; one side wants it perfect and the other side doesn't want to deal with it), so I went with the one-color (with a little white for the tail) version:

Here's a closeup of the detail:

And a closeup of one of the squares:

Of course, the baby showed up well before I finished it, and it was looking like he'd be a teenager before the blanket arrived in the mail (gotta love the postal service--next time, I'll swim it across the Atlantic myself, it'll get there faster), but it did arrive and all is good.

"Ahem...aren't you forgetting something?"

Um...no, I don't think so.

"Yes, you're forgetting the part where I helped you...
or I should say, tried to help you, and got no appreciation for my efforts?"

Mick, you tried to eat the yarn--that is not helping.

"I was not trying to eat the yarn! I was trying to cut it for you!
Hmph, how rude...that's the last time I try to help you with a project..."

Oh, boy...I'm in for some serious snubbing now. I guess I'd better go find the treatball...catch you later!

Thinking inside the box

Some of you may remember Mickey's meditation room from past posts:

I had moved it into a permanent spot between our TV table and a desk after Christmas, and it was promptly ignored by His Majesty. Apparently I messed with the bun-shui when I chose to make its placement acceptable to human standards.

I left it there, since it was helping to hide wires and wasn't sticking out like a sore thumb. After a while, I started putting his toys in there, since he wasn't paying much attention to those, either. He has quite a stash accumulated between bought toys and ordinary household objects, and each and every one consumed his attention for anywhere from one to five minutes before being doomed to perdition in the former meditation room.

That is how it had been for months...until a couple of weeks ago, when somebunny started rummaging through his toy collection. At first, it was to haul out a set of fruit-flavored balsa wood blocks (a gift that came with an order from some bunneh supply store, I forget which one) and promptly start gnawing on them--something he's never done before; wood is low on his things-to-chew list. The next thing I know, he's pulling out his old tart tins and flinging them around, which prompted the boy to start playing a few games of "put the tin on the bunny" until I told him to stop.

Last night, I looked up from my computer, and saw this:

Tonight, I moved the toys out of the box to see what he would do. He promptly went into the box and started digging around and nibbling at the corners here and there, then came back out for his usual petting and adoration session. I'm not sure if there will be any future bunstruction going on there or not, but I will let you know what develops.

More treatball!

Okay, before you watch this, you should click here and watch the two videos I posted yesterday.

It's ok, I'll wait...

Did you watch them? Great! Okay, now watch this!

And wouldn't you know it--the minute I shut off the camera, he came over and dropped it at my feet! How cute is that?!

Treats!

Treats for Mr. Mick--and two new videos of Mr. Mick getting treats, which hopefully is a treat for all of you.

First off, Mickey got a special treat last night, courtesy of our dinner out:

(of course, I always manage to pick a day when his cage is less than spotless to shoot video...)

Where there are treats, there is sometimes also a treatball involved. Here is Mr. Mick playing with his favoritest toy in the world:

What this video fails to show is the trail of treats that somebunny managed to miss. For every one he eats, there's about three or four he leaves behind--sometimes he goes back and gets them, and sometimes he ignores them altogether, which means I'm picking them up and putting them back in the treatball for Round 2. I try to keep the treatball treats to the healthy stuff. This particular mix consisted of two broken-up papaya tablets, a couple of broken-up Oxbow veggie treats, a few dried papaya and pineapple mini-bits and some dried veggie bits. When he's emptied the treatball, he will often pick it up and run around with it in his mouth (which is something I really need to get on video because it's too darn cute) before either dropping it at my feet or flinging it into a corner somewhere.

Hope everyone is having an enjoyable Labor Day weekend--as for me, I'm spending it catching up on chores, how bad is that? :)
