Showing off just a little

Somebunny is going to be a little miffed at me, but he's not getting the spotlight this time. I have been waiting to show this off, and I finally have a chance.

Some of you may remember the "Milo's Bunny" crochet square I designed last year to honor my grandfather (and if you don't, you can find it here). When I found out that Lisa, bunny-mom to Buttons and Bella of Little fluffy adventures, was expecting her first child, I knew that a "Milo's Bunny" blanket would be a perfect gift.

I'm still trying to work out the kinks in the two-color version (it's been a huge battle between the seriously-fussy side of me and the lazy-wench side of me; one side wants it perfect and the other side doesn't want to deal with it), so I went with the one-color (with a little white for the tail) version:

Here's a closeup of the detail:

And a closeup of one of the squares:

Of course, the baby showed up well before I finished it, and it was looking like he'd be a teenager before the blanket arrived in the mail (gotta love the postal service--next time, I'll swim it across the Atlantic myself, it'll get there faster), but it did arrive and all is good.

"Ahem...aren't you forgetting something?"

Um...no, I don't think so.

"Yes, you're forgetting the part where I helped you...
or I should say, tried to help you, and got no appreciation for my efforts?"

Mick, you tried to eat the yarn--that is not helping.

"I was not trying to eat the yarn! I was trying to cut it for you!
Hmph, how rude...that's the last time I try to help you with a project..."

Oh, boy...I'm in for some serious snubbing now. I guess I'd better go find the treatball...catch you later!

What a lovely baby blankie! I'm sure Bella and Buttons will be even more jealous of the new arrival. Since Mr. Mick wasn't allowed to put his official "stamp of disapproval" on the blankie, of course you are in for serious snubbing. Good luck in defusing the situation with a game of treatball!

Yes, he was very miffed when I stopped him from chewing on the yarn a few times while I was working on the blanket. It took a lot of petting and some treatball to soothe all the ruffled fur. If I wasn't concerned that he might get a blockage, I would have given him some spare yarn to play with/chew on, since it was 100% cotton yarn.

Sorry Mick, I know you trying to eat the yarn instead of help. Can't fool your Auntie even if you are cute. ;)

That is fantastic! Are the bunny squares super hard to do? I crochet. Sort of.

Jade, this is completely awesome. I love the detail of the tails. Will you be putting out a pattern? Good thing Mickey Didn't get ahold of it. We have several crocheted blankets with Ginny holes. And that last picture of Mickey? Downright scary. Did you get struck by lightening?

Yup, the comment I made yesterday didn't happen for some reason. I'm really taken by this, I know how to make the pom poms by knitting, so now I'm inspired. I'm sure your friend will love this no matter when it arrives.

Simply divine Jade! Love it, love it, love it!!!! I especially love the modern-ness of your design in such a timeless style. I bet they were chuffed! Mick sounds a little disgruntled, but he will get over it, I'm guessing as soon as the treat ball makes an appearance ;o) nice Mick pics too. xox

Great Mickey photos. It is clear that he was not TOTALLY neglected (he ate well) during the project effort.

It is beautiful! I love the deeper colors! It looks soft, too. Mick, the same goes for you: Beautiful, Great Colors, and SOFT! You can come and eat all the yarn you want at my house ... I'll make some out of hay for you!
